Hooded prowler alert

VICTIMS of a strange hooded man who prowls gardens and peers into homes are being asked to help police curb his activities.

Bexhill sector commander Inspector Max Mosley saids: "Police have recently photographed a man wearing a dark hooded anorak who it is said has been peering into people's houses in west Bexhill. He is six feet tall and heavily built and aged 19 or 20 with a dark, swarthy complexion.

"He usually wears the anorak with the hood pulled up so only his eyes can be seen.

"WPC Heidi Robinson is showing the picture of victims. What we need to do is build up an accurate picture of what this this guy's been up to and how many people he has disturbed.

"We are going to use our new Anti-Social Behaviour procedure and if it is a case where there has been a significant problem we will invited him to sign an Anti-Social Behaviour Contract."

Under the system, an offender signs a contract not to commit anti-social acts such as harassment.

WPC Robinson says: "The majority of people in the area in question are elderly. Even if this man is not threatening it is still unnerving if you are living alone and a strange man appears in your garden."
