Horse dies at Polegate

A horse died after falling at Polegate yesterday (Tuesday).

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were called to reports of a horse down in Polegate on Tuesday afternoon.

One appliance from Rye, a specialist unit from Crowborough and one officer were sent to the scene on Sayerland Lane at 1.03pm on January 12.

A spokesperson said, “On arrival it was confirmed that a 29-year-old mare was down in the stable area. A vet was called to support the incident.

“Sadly, despite the work of the crews and vet, the horse’s condition was too serious and it could not be saved.”

Firefighters left the scene at 3.25pm.
