The horse was moved to a field by its owner and a vet.
Traffic control was maintained by the fire service and Sussex Police, said West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service.

Firefighters were called to remove a horse on the Adversane railway crossing in the A29 in Billingshurst at around 2pm on Saturday (September 7).
