The family-friendly march through the town centre will take place as part of the global ‘Time To Act’ Climate March taking place in London today.

Those who wish to take part do not need to register and can meet at the Horsham Park Bandstand, near the Conservatory Café, from 11am.

Marchers will set off on the mile-long route at midday.

Speakers will address those taking part at different stops along the route, discussing national and local climate issues such as developments, Gatwick expansion, fossil fuels and air pollution.

Martin Dale, an organiser of the Horsham march, said: “This family-friendly event aims to not only raise awareness of these important issues amongst our elected representatives and onlookers, but also, as just one of many marches taking place across the world, to apply pressure on world leaders heading to the COP21 Climate Summit.

“Everyone is welcome to bring along their own placards and banners, and we encourage children to get creative! We wish to make sure that Horsham puts on a good turnout.”

The Horsham march is being held for those unable to make it to the event in London but who still wish to stand up for the environment. Time To Act is hosting a rally in the English capital along with other organisations to put pressure on world leaders as they meet next month to discuss cutting emissions. A second rally is due to be held in Paris on December 12.
