Horsham man charged with assaulting police officer

A Horsham man has been charged with assaulting a police officer.

Joseph Wilson, unemployed, was arrested at his address in New Street on Tuesday (January 12), police said.

The 25-year-old appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (January 14), charged with assault by beating, two counts of assaulting a police officer in the execution of their duty, criminal damage and threatening to damage or destroy property.

He was released on bail for a hearing to take place at Horsham Magistrates’ Court on February 29.

Police said as part of his bail conditions Wilson has been prohibited from entering New Street and contacting the complainant.

He is also required to live and sleep at an address in Stane Street, Billingshurst.
