Horsham man’s frustration at crash damage to parked cars

Mark Comber saw both his family’s cars parked outside their home in Rushams Road badly damaged after they were involved in a collision with a third car on Tuesday April 28 at around 7am.

Mark said: “I was in bed, the alarm was about to go off. That was the alarm hearing that bang and knowing our cars were out there.

“This certainly wasn’t the first time. I suppose it is just one of those things we are expecting.

“Something happens to a car that is parked down here certainly every few months and that’s the ones we know about.”

Police said the driver was unhurt in the collision and the road was blocked for over an hour whilst the cars were removed.

One of Mark’s cars was pushed onto the pavement in the collision and went into the back of a second parked car which he also owns.

Mark said both cars look as if they may be written off.

He continued: “I am frustrated, I know accidents happen so I know you can’t be angry but they happen so frequently down there.

“It is not good, whatever happens we are going to be out of pocket.

“I am lost for words really. We have to pay for the privilege of parking there so this is a real kick in the teeth.”

He added something needed to be done to stop these accidents and suggested speed bumps should be installed.

Mark’s neighbour Ann Grain agreed.

She said: “This is particularly concerning as there is a play group/nursery held in Trinity Church hall, opposite where the accident took place this morning. It could have been so much worse and does not bear thinking about.

“We have over the years asked for speed bumps but been told the emergency services do not want them as Rushams Road is a through road.

“Are the authorities going to wait until someone is killed before they do anything?”
