Stephanie Knight, 49, will be completing the dive to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy, who raise funds for research into muscle-wasting conditions, on Friday February 27 with the aim of collecting as much money as she can for the charity.

For Stephanie the cause is one very close to her heart as she has two sons who have been diagnosed with the condition.

She said: “I have always wanted to do one and just never plucked up the courage to do it really and with it being my 50th next year and it being such a worthwhile cause I thought I should give it a go.

“My family have all been watching in the jungle and said mum you could do that.”

“I am excited, nervous, a bit of everything really. I think with it being a tandem you have not got much choice when you get up their so you have to do it.”

The skydive is part of a national campaign organised by the charity called ‘Make today count’ which sees people jumping out planes across the UK for an entire weekend to raise money for the cause.

Last year 147 people took part in the dive and Stephanie said she was very pleased to be a part of this year’s event.

She said: “I think at the moment it is being done all over the UK including places in Ireland, Scotland and Wales at different locations. I am proud to be a part of it and very excited.”

Stephanie’s original target was to raise £400 but with the amount of donations she has received she looks set to beat that total and said she would love to take the final amount over the £1000 mark.

She said: “I set out to raise £400 but the more I get the better. If I can get the £1000 that would be great.

“We need to make people more aware of Muscular Dystrophy and try and raise as much money as we can.”
