Readers have contacted the County Times to express their frustration over the delays.

A spokesman for UK Power Networks said: “UK Power Networks has been excavating trenches for new communications cables which will help operate the electricity network.

“Work started in Brighton Road, Horsham, on September 30 and this stage of the work is due to finish on Friday, with a further stage next year which we expect to last two and half weeks.

“We adjusted the settings on our temporary traffic lights at peak times to keep traffic flowing as freely as possible but appreciate how frustrating it is to experience traffic delays and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

West Sussex County Council has confirmed works further along the road will continue for another week.

A Spokesman said: “The set (traffic lights) near the Hornbrook are scheduled to be there until October 20 and the set at New Street until October 22.

“The latter are Multi-Way Signals operating 24 hours a day, with manual control at peak times to manage the traffic flow.”
