Horsham Salvation Army kicks off festive appeal

The Salvation Army Horsham Corps is focussing its Christmas campaign on families this year.

Throughout the year the Horsham Corps provides up to 40 weekly food parcels to vulnerable and homeless people at its Hope-In drop-in service.

This culminates in a Christmas parcel appeal through which hundreds gifts of food and presents are given to families across Horsham and the surrounding areas in response to requests from schools and social services.

Major Ann Stewart, who leads the church with her husband Iain, said: “We are looking forward to a busy Christmas season where people can join us in sharing the Christmas story through words and music and in living out the message of Christmas by reaching out in practical ways to people in need.”

Gift labels outlining suggested donations will be available at The Salvation Army’s hall in Booth Way and CHLOE’S charity shop in the Bishopric.

Any new toys and gifts are welcome and anyone who could spare some time to help distribute Christmas parcels in the weeks commencing December 8 and December 15 are encouraged to get touch by calling the branch on 01403 254624.

Donations of biscuits and cakes and other nonperishable Christmas items for the food parcels are also welcome.
