Horsham’s Capitol Theatre accepted as asset of community value

Horsham’s Capitol Theatre has been accepted as an asset of community value after a nomination by the Horsham Society.

The organisation also had its bid to nominate Horsham Museum, in the Causeway, accepted by Horsham District Council this week.

Under the Localism Act any building nominated as an asset of community value gives groups the opportunity to bid for the property if the landowner decides to dispose of it.

Last week the County Times exclusively revealed plans for a new multi-plex cinema in the town centre.

However David Moore, who is chairman of the Horsham Society, felt that these proposals could ‘kill’ the Capitol.

Earlier this year the Horsham Society successfully listed Drill Hall, in Denne Road, as an asset of community value.
