Horsham’s Children in Need Halloween Party a success

The event, organised by Horsham District Council and the Rotary Club of Horsham on Thursday October 30, attracted and entertained hundreds of young families thanks to the participation of businesses and event partners.

With Santander Bank offering to match all this year’s town centre Children In Need funds from the event, a total of around £2,700 was raised on the day. Children showed off their best Halloween costumes at the fancy dress competition, sponsored by the Non Stop Party Shop, queued up for face painting by Busydays, pottery painting by Ceramic Shack, and the activity marquee sponsored by Gascgoine-Pees. TV’s Dave Benson Phillips put on two entertaining sets, while Horsham Library Service hosted story telling sessions.

The DoStuffBus pumpkin carving, sponsored by Santander, saw more than 100 pumpkins carved. Prizes were provided by The Capitol, Sainsbury’s, Toy Barnhaus, Shakeaway, and Subway.

Pumpkin carving competition winners: Noah Sears, 8 (under 12s), Ellen Angell,16, (12-17), Daryl Sears (18+), and Molly Coddle (best market pumpkin).

Runners up: Rosie Maskell, 10 (under 12s), Lucy Bennet Stevens, 12, (12-17), Andy Malone (18+), and Greener Greens (best market pumpkin).

The best overall winner was Miranda Austin, 10.
