Amongst the other entries in the Floral Art section of their schedule for their Summer Flower Show is an entry depicting this theme entitled” Remembrance” - an exhibit to commemorate the Centenary of WW1.

Amongst the Children’s section children are being invited to write and enter a copy of the famous poem by John McCrae “ In Flander’s Fields (as below) in order to support this on going theme and in respect of those lost in this Great War.

The flower show is to be held on the 9th of August on the Crowhurst recreation ground and is held each year as part of the large annual village Fayre (who have also adopted the same theme to run this event this year so the village should look fantastic one way and another)

Watch this space for further details of all events.

Mary had the personal idea to grow these very pretty flowers around the local area about a year ago, to highlight this very important event and she has in fact grown herself many plants from seeds this year in order to sell them on to raise society funds

Also to encourage as many people as possible to plant them around the local “patches” and in the village(s) to make it very special!

Mary has also planted several large planters (with commemorative plaques added) in order that she and other members of the committee can donate them shortly around Crowhurst village for display for all to enjoy.

These planters are full to bursting with these super plants and will be displayed shortly at the Railway Station, St George’s Church and at The Plough Inn.

Please look out for these later on when in full bloom.
