Hospice abseil

AMATEUR astronomer Barry Soden will be reaching for the stars when he steps off the 128ft high parapet of the Ocean House office block.

Barry is seeking sponsorship to ensure that his participation in this year's abseil in aid of St Michael's Hospice raises as much money as possible.

Hospice supporters will be gathering at the St Leonards tower block on Sunday, July 22 to put their trust in their instructors and in the equipment before stepping off the roof.

Barry, of Wineham Way, said this week: "I have got to be mad. I have never done one before. I shall be nearly 71 when I do it. But I won't be the oldest. There will be people in their eighties - probably their nineties..."
