Hospice grateful for funds raised at annual festival

The Cuckfield Christmas Tree Festival held between December 11-13 raised £7,571.52 for Chestnut Tree House children's hospice.

In addition to the wonderful display of trees, there was plenty of live music and refreshments throughout the event. It was the festival’s 13th year, which to date has raised £56,035 for charity.

Paul Goldfinch, one of the festival planners from Cuckfield, said: “This is a very special event which the local community put their heart and soul into.

“I would like to thank everyone for their support. This was my last year of being involved with the festival and it was an honour to raise such a significant amount for Chestnut Tree House. Their representative Jo Smith was a pleasure to work with. I wish everyone all the best for the year ahead and the 2016 Christmas Tree Festival!”

Jo Smith, Chestnut Tree House Community Fundraiser, said: “We are so very grateful to have been part of this wonderful festival. Over 79 local schools, shops, businesses, clubs and societies took part, while visitors to the event were also generous with their donations.

“The amount raised is enough to pay for more than 26 hours of all the care services provided, both at the House and out in communities across East and West Sussex and South-East Hampshire.

“At Chestnut Tree House our goal is to provide the best quality of life for children, young people and their families. It costs well over £3.5 million each year to provide all our care services. We rely heavily on the generosity, help and support of the local community.”
