HOSPITAL CAMPAIGNERS RALLY IN WESTMINSTER

Eastbourne MP Nigel Waterson welcomed members of the Save the DGH Campaign to Parliament yesterday (Tuesday).

They, with more than 300 people from up and down the country lobbied the Secretary of State for Health in the historic setting of Westminster Hall.

The rally, which was organised by the All Party Parliamentary Group on Local Hospitals, brought together those worried by threatened hospital cuts and closures.

Mr Waterson said time and again the same story emerged from the different groups; there was the feeling that the Government simply wasn't listening to their concerns or taking their views into account.

He commented: 'It has been a good opportunity to remind the Government of our concerns and underline that these problems are not just effecting Eastbourne, but are going on all over the country. Ministers need to realise that we do not want to lose core services like maternity.'
