House fire in Rye

A FIRE broke out in a house in Rye last night (August 14).

Firefighters from Rye and Broad Oak raced to the scene at South Undercliff just before 9.15pm, following reports that people may be trapped in the property.

Luckily everyone in the terraced house was accounted for.

Firefighters used four breathing apparatus and a hose reel to tackle the fire, which was on the ground floor.

It is believed the blaze started accidentally.

Police and ambulance crews were also on the scene.
