Household waste recycling centres to open longer

IF YOU’RE planning a spring clean you will be delighted to know that your local tip is opening later from April 1 for the summer.

The houshold waste recycling centre in Newhaven, just off Lewes Road, will be open from 9am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and from 9am to 4pm on Sundays.

In Seaford the tip at Cradlle Hill Industrial Estate, in Cradle Hill Road, will be open from 9am to 6pm Monday to Sunday.

The household waste recycling sites are managed by Veolia Environmental Services in partnership with East Sussex County Council can take a wide variety of materials.

These include bric-a-brac, car batteries, cardboard, engine oil, cooking oil, fridges, freezers, glass, green garden waste, newspapers, magazines, rubble, soil, wood, metal (including food and drink cans), and plastic bottles.

Waste sites manager for Veolia, Martin Benson, said: “At this time of year, many people are having a good spring clean.

“We want to encourage them to bring items to the recycling sites where they can be put to good use.”
