Housing on hotel site

Plans to build houses on the site of the most historic hotel in Bognor Regis were being decided last night.

Herongate Land and Developments Ltd was expected to receive planning permission for its scheme of 13 one and two bedroom dwellings at the Royal Norfolk Hotel.

They will be built on the former accommodation block and storage area to the north and rear of the hotel.

Arun District Council's development control committee was being recommended by planning officer Keith Wheway to approve the scheme.

It is the seventh attempt in less than three years to build on the site.

But it differs crucially from the previous proposals by omitting housing to the east of the hotel which could be viewed from the seafront.
