Government Inspector Simon Gibbs said the plan to erect six five-bedroom detached houses on land at Tilsmore Road failed to provide a full range of house sizes for buyers.

The development proposed was from R V Young Ltd and was for the extension and alteration to an existing house at Thorntree, plus the construction of half a dozen dwellings, each with similar designs, to the rear of Kirkholme and Spinners.

Mr Gibbs said the proposal would not have resulted in overdevelopment, but added that the new buildings might have had an adverse impact on protected trees nearby. The scheme should also have included smaller houses.
