Hove man arrested after Brighton restaurant blaze

Police investigating a suspicious fire at a restaurant in Patcham have arrested a man.

The blaze broke out at La Tana in Ladies Mile Road at about 12.30am on Sunday (June 18).

No one was present in the property at the time, according to police, but the occupants of the flat above the restaurant were evacuated as a precaution.

Firefighters from East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service put out the fire.

Sussex Police says a 52-year-old Hove man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted arson with intent to endanger life, two counts of criminal damage, blackmail, possession with intent to supply class A drugs and released under investigation.
