Significant quantities of Class A, B and C drugs, over £1,000 in cash, a stolen vehicle and a number of other vehicles were seized from the properties during the raids.

The warrants for the arrests were made after a money box was snatched from a security guard as he was entering the post office in Portland Road at around 10.25am.

A man grabbed the box and pulled it from the security guard’s hands.

The suspect was pursued along Portland Road, then Westbourne Gardens, by the security guard before he got into a car driven by another man.

The car made off at speed south along Westbourne Gardens.

Detective Sergeant Mark Rosser said: “I would like to reiterate the appeal to anyone who witnessed the robbery or who saw the offenders driving off in a small, dark coloured hatchback car which was involved in a minor crash in Scott Road, Hove, later found abandoned in Goldstone Lane.”

He added: “Anyone with information is urged to come forward.”

The suspect is described as white, in his 20s, 5ft 10in, slim, wearing a grey hooded top and black jeans

Seven suspects have been released on bail pending further enquiries. One is still in custody.
