And they had reason to be thrilled. The event saw more than 1,000 revellers flocking to the town to join the action – raising a total of £3,404.73 for the charity.

There was everything from a prince and princess competition, face-painting, stunning live displays from the Sussex Tornadoes cheerleaders and even a special visit from children’s TV character Peppa Pig.

Tracey Terry, of Jamie’s Wish, said: “I think it’s becoming one of the most popular annual events that seems to grow and grow.”

The day was held in Linden Park, off East Ham Road, and featured a cutest baby competition.

A total of 27 tots took part in the event. Judges had a tough time determining the winner but eventually settled on crowning Catherine Bryan, one, as the victor.

In the dog show competition, Barney the golden retriever was once again hailed the winner for the second year running, while the fun day prince and princess award went to Charlie Schwar, four, and Sophie West, seven.

Tracey wished to thank all those who donated and sponsored the day.
