Hundreds raised at Mewsbrook Park, Littlehampton

THE FUN has been had, and now it’s time for the good to be done.

A charity fun day was held at Mewsbrook Park, Littlehampton, in August, and the total raised has now been handed over.

Organiser David Chace, of Chace Catering, said hundreds of people had gone along to enjoy the day.

“We raised £620 for WADARS (Worthing and District Animal Rescue Service). That includes the money raised that day, and also the money we contributed.”

He added the event had also raised £740 for Littlehampton mayor, Emma Neno’s charities of the year, HomeStart and CancerWise.

HomeStart works with families in need, by offering support, help and free advice, and Chichester-based, CancerWise, which covers the Arun area, offers well-being advice and sessions to people suffering from the disease.

Emma said: “It was a perfect community event and the park was absolutely packed with everyone enjoying the entertainment and stalls, with their friends and family. There was such a happy, community atmosphere, it was great. It really was a day that all ages enjoyed and was exactly what I had hoped for.

“Littlehampton definitely knows how to have fun and it was lovely to do something for my charities in our gorgeous Mewsbrook Park.”

The event featured a host of attractions including dance groups and an Elvis Presley impersonator.

However, it was the mayor’s dog show which proved to the highlight of the day, attracting more than 100 entries in six categories.

“Fingers crossed we have managed to get the ball rolling for plenty of community activities like this,” added Emma.
