Little Acorns Playgroup

Thank you to all who baked such amazing cakes for us for the Hurst Green Fete - we raised £300. Our next event will be our famous sponsored bike ride where all the children bring their bikes and have great fun riding around the school playground. Please sponsor us as we are raising money to do more sports activity next term.

Our theme this term is ‘Mini beasts’. The children really enjoyed our visit from the Zoo Lab team, they showed us some wonderful creepy crawlies from millipedes to tarantulas. The children are enjoying our shared outdoor area and visiting their new classes, meeting their new teachers, which helps with a smooth transition into school. We are looking forward to our annual school leavers trip to Blackberry Farm in July and the end of term school leavers party for those going to ‘big school’ in September.

The Hurst Green Community Shop & Cafe continues to grow in popularity and now needs a cook.

Due to the growing demand on the cafe a cook is urgently required over the weekends to help with the busy morning periods. The need has become SO URGENT that the shop has upgraded this role from a volunteer post to A PAID POST. The person would be required between 10.00 am and 1.30 pm on Saturdays & Sundays i.e. 7 hours a week. The post could be shared by 2 people so that they only have to work every other weekend. The Hurst Green Community Shop & Cafe continues to evolve and the cafe is increasing its range of snacks and dishes (one of the best ploughman’s yet) within the unique converted church set back in the garden space.

‘The Annual Front Garden Competition’ for the most attractive front garden that can be seen from the road in Hurst Green will take place between 5th - 12th July. All gardens in the village will be entered. An independent judge will select the final winner and runner up. The winner will receive a prize of £40 and will also hold the trophy for a year. The runner up will receive a prize of £20
