How wonderful to be able to relax and enjoy our gardens.

To sit outside in glorious sun,

To hear the birds and smell the flowers,

A gift of God to everyone.

Police and ambulance helicopter fly over

How long do we have to wait

until something positive is done.

There’s not enough money they say,

but then what price is a life?

It could be someone’s husband,

it could be someone’s wife.

A father or a mother,

it will be someone loved.

How much more will happen,

until bureaucrats will budge?

We had really good fun at the Worship for All the Family Service on Sunday at Holy Trinity. It was good to see families there. We praised God, popped balloons, saw an explosion in a plastic bottle, which made us all ‘jump.’ Sung our hearts out and then enjoyed fellowship over tea, coffee and sprummy cake.

We hope next month to do it again, so you will all be welcome.

A service is held the first Sunday of each month.

It’s been one year since the Community Shop and Cafe opened. This is a great achievement for the village and, from the feedback received by the board it has clearly been a huge valuable asset for the Hurst Green village community.

The occasion is to be celebrated by the board on Saturday 24th May Between 12 noon and 3pm on the lawn at the front of the shop with some activities for the children, table tennis and food tasting for all to enjoy. AND the grand draw for the giant toblerone raffle (have you brought your tickets yet?)

Please feel free to drop by to mark this occasion with them.

Support your community shop/cafe. It’s there for your enjoyment and convenience

Run mainly by volunteers from the Hurst Green Community, more helpers always needed as the shop and cafe gets more and more busy.

It’s good to welcome Jamie on board doing his apprenticeship.

Enjoy a coffee, tea, plus. Amazing new menu of Ploughman’s Lunches, English Breakfast. Order by phone 01580 860070 and have your food ready when you arrive.

Get your newspapers, free library exchange of books, local produce, a good selection of wine and general shopping.

You can arrange to have your medical prescriptions delivered to the shop and available for collection Thursday afternoons.

The Shop is looking for a volunteer to do some gardening, especially mowing. If you feel you could help, please ring Clare on (01580) 860070

A Celebration of 30 years of Twinning with Elleroop Germany. Friday 6th. June 7.30pm to late in the Village Hall, an admission free Disco AND Saturday 7th. 2.00pm to 5.00pm a Fete on the Playing Field and later from 7.30pm to late live music in the Village Hall. Admission free.

Ella Clarke South East Open Studio is holding an exhibition in the Village Hall on June 6th. 11-6pm June 7th. 10-6pm and June 8th. 10-7
