Hurst Green village voice

As you will be aware, Flora recently submitted her last Village Voice column on moving away from the village, at that time a replacement correspondent had not come forward from the village to take on the role, so I have offered to keep the column going until someone comes forward, it would be much better to have someone actually living in the village, and more in contact with village events, to write the column.

If you are interested in finding out more about becoming the Hurst Green Correspondent, get in touch with me or contact the Battle Observer.

Flora lived in the village and was able to pick up news as she went about her daily routines, I am not in Hurst Green a great deal, so will have to rely very much on organisations getting their information to me, so if someone from your organisation does not send me the details, the chances are your information will not be included. Let me have details of your monthly meetings, so that I can let people know when you are meeting.

All of my contact details are at the end of the column, you can use any of them, but the preferred method is by email, it is easier to copy straight into the column and is less prone to errors during copying, as well as making the column quicker to compile. I suggest you make a note of my contact details for future reference. If you are a contact for a village organisation can I ask you to please send me an email with all your contact details, and any other contacts in your group, in case I need to contact you, if you do not have email use one of the other methods to send me your details.

There is currently at least one allotment plot available, a bit late in the year now for getting crops for this year but taking on a plot now would give a new tenant plenty of time to get the plot prepared for the next growing season. If you might be interested in taking on a plot, contact Maureen Harniman on 01580 860251, or if you want to find out more you can contact me, I have one of the plots so can probably answer most of your queries. Priority is given to Hurst green residents, but if none are waiting for a plot spare plots can be allocated to residents of neighbouring villages. If you are not sure if an allotment is for you, get in touch and take a look, you might be inspired to take one on.

Robertsbridge Aviation Society are holding a Jumble Sale at Bush Barn Farm tomorrow (September 8) 2pm to 4pm. They also have a few tickets available for their coach trip on Saturday September 15 to “Salute the Forties” at Chatham Dockyard, £20 a head, includes coach and entry to the event. The coach will leave Battle at 8.25am and Robertsbridge at 8.40am. For more information on either of these events, phone 01424 773428.
