and needs only a few to run it - but all are welcome to join. History offers the opportunity to visit churches and churchyards as well as record offices for those who are keen to study family history in the context of social history. A six weeks course is already under way at the WRAP Centre in Hawkhurst and those in Hurst Green who expressed an interest in the subject were advised to go to the Hawkhurst sessions which they will find useful.

The session was conducted by Teresa Lipson with Gerald Hanriman and Breda Mason completing the team. The motto of the scheme was “Let’s Make It Happen”.

The Friendship Club will still meet on Black Bin Day at 2pm as usual with games, bingo, speakers and chat with tea.

Working alongside the new groups, and open to all ages, is the Patchwork Quilt Group. Run by a professional needle work lady, this welcomes those who are already interested in such a skilled craft and also people are invited to come along and learn the skill. Small items of work have been donated to the Children’s Hospice where the young patients find them of great benefit and comfort. Please phone 01580 860 984 for further details. Articles of workmanship were brought to the meeting and are of the highest quality.
