HURSTPIERPOINT HISTORICAL AND GEOGRAPHICAL SOCIETY: meets on Friday 24 February at the Guide Hall off Trinity Road car park, at 8pm.. The speaker is Peter Lovett on The influence of Invasions on the English Language. You may never have given it much thought but our language has been added to and changed by the various invaders who came and stayed, leaving their mark on how we speak today. All welcome, and in fact last month a third of the audience who came to hear about Gilbert & Sullivan were non-members, and the cost is only £3.

VILLAGE CINEMA: screens on Friday 24 February Chevallier (18). A Greek film which pokes fun at male manners and snobbery. Six affluent middle-class men are on board an expensive yacht for a fishing holiday. Boredom sets in and they decide to compete against each other to decide who is the best. They score each other at increasingly silly aspirations. A funny satire. The Saturday family film on 25 February is The Secret Life of Pets (U) an amusing animation about what our pets do when we are not at home. Tickets from the website or Mishon Mackay. RELAX WITH COLOURING: at the library. Starting on 2 March and every Thursday afterwards from 2pm to 3pm. Forget the idea that colouring is just for kids. In a busy world increasingly dominated by time spent in front of screens adults are turning to the soothing art of colouring. These sheets or books are intricately designed some specifically to help de-stress and focus the mind. No wonder this has become so popular. Just drop in, all the materials are provided and relax in a friendly atmosphere whilst you create with colour.

WOMEN’S WORLD DAY OF PRAYER: Friday 3 March at 10.30am at Holy Trinity Church. Each year the service is compiled by women from a different country and this year it is the Philippines and they have chosen the title ‘Am I are being unfair to you?’ All are welcome and coffee is served after the service.

LOOKING TO ADOPT A CAT?: Our local cat rehoming charity Paws & Claws situated at Sayers Common is having a homing session on Saturday 4 March from 2pm to 4pm. MESSY CHURCH: Sunday 5 March at Hurstpierpoint Methodist Church, Cuckfield Road from 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm, every one is welcome. This is an informal time of ‘doing church differently’ with great fun singing songs, hearing Bible stories, doing messy activities and then enjoying food together. Children must be accompanied by a parent/carer or trusted adult.

HURST AFTERNOON CLUB: meets on Tuesday 7 March in the Village Centre at 2pm, when Belinda Sharpe will take them on a musical journey. Everyone welcome to join in and enjoy a chat and refreshments.
