Ian rewarded for giving blood

A dedicated blood donor from Seaford, who has helped save up to 300 lives, was recognised by NHS Blood and Transplant for his loyalty and commitment at a ceremony on Friday January 15.

Ian Nathan, 60, a builder from Seaford, has been a long standing blood donor for more than 40 years.

He said, “I started donating blood with a friend and I’ve been donating blood ever since. My daughter needed blood after the birth of her child, so this re-enforces the need for me to give blood. I also thought it was a nice thing to do for others.”

The lifesaving efforts of 34 blood donors from across Sussex who collectively saved over 10,200 lives were honoured with commemorative medals at the ceremony in Brighton.
