CHURCH NEWS: After a very emotional, but full of laughter Benefice service last Sunday at Winchelsea, we now come to the harsh reality of having no incumbent. We are grateful to the retired priests who will be leading the services. This coming Sunday Malcolm Pickering will be officiating at 9.30 am for Parish Eucharist for the 6th Sunday of Epiphany. This Sunday is also Racial Justice Sunday. General Synod is meeting in London during the week. I wonder what plans they will come up with? Tuesday is Saint Valentine’s Day , he who was a martyr at Rome in 269.

WEATHER: February Fill-dyke has been living up to its reputation, although the garden is not as wet as in previous years. The “lawn “ does not squelch as much. There is apparently a lunar eclipse tomorrow, Saturday, but my information does not tell me if we shall get to see it. Have you noticed how bright Venus is at present? And there seems to be another astral body very near it which made me think that perhaps it was a spaceship or a satellite. It is more likely Mars which just happens to be on a similar orbit and isn’t really close to Venus at all.

ICKLESHAM SONGBIRDS: There is a little saying about making sure your brain is engaged before opening your mouth !! It applies equally to FINGERS on keyboards. !!What was I doing ?!! The Songbirds have some seriously ruffled feathers because silly me said the wrong name for the lady running it. OF COURSE I know it is Sharon Sellens and not Sandra Stunt who is in charge. I got it wrong and I sincerely apologise to both ladies. So I will repeat the information about the group. The meetings are on Wednesdays at Five Villages House from 2 - 3 pm membership is open to anyone over 60 living in the village, and costs just £2 per session.
