CHURCH NEWS: The 9.30 am service on Sunday, the 3rd before Advent, will be Parish Eucharist, led by Rev. Canon Robin Whitehead. Next Friday we remember Martin, Bishop of Tours 397. Martin was one of the most popular saints of the Middle Ages. Although his cult is centered in France, where 500 villages and 4, 000 churches are dedicated to him, his following spread throughout Europe. In England there are many church bearing his name, notably St. Martin-in-the-fields Trafalgar square. The short spell of fine weather which often occurs at this time is called St. Martin’s Summer.

QUEEN’S HEAD: The live music this Sunday between 4 & 6 pm will be played by the Black Sheep Blues Band, -- self explanatory.

ROBIN HOOD BONFIRE AND FIREWORKS: Gates open at 6.30 pm for the traditional bonfire and fireworks on 5th November. It costs £3 for people aged 12 and over, £2 for the under 12s. There will be a licensed bar, hot food and ice ream.

BONFIRE SOCIETY: There will be a meeting on Tuesday 8th November to which all are welcome. This will be to look forward to 2017 which will be the 20th anniversary at the Robin Hood and it is hoped to make this a little special. However, we do need people to get involved so we can do everything we hope to.. An interest in participating in other bonfire events than our own is not necessary as we hold many other events throughout the year for which we require support. Anyone can be a member, whether or not they live in Icklesham. We have members from all over the place. It is also a family activity and we have two families where three generations participate in our activities. The meeting on 8th is at the Robin Hood at 7.30 pm for a 7.45pm start. SATURDAY 5TH.: Lots going on today as well as the bonfire. Between 9 and 11am there will be Scarecrow voting in the Memorial Hall. The winner will be announced at the Bonfire at the Robin Hood. All proceeds are for the New Pavilion Fund. And at 10.30 am coffee will be served Up to mid-day you may enjoy your coffee, buy cakes, cards and mugs, or be tempted by the bring-and-Buy. This is in aid of Family Support Work

WINCHELSEA ARTS: The next concert will be on 11th November at 7.30 pm in Winchelsea Church. The performers for this concert will be The Arcana Ensemble, a family group of classical musicians, all of whom graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in London. They have an extensive repertoire that encompasses the classics of chamber music as well as entertaining arrangements an transcriptions of virtuosic works. They gave their debut recital at St. James’s Church, Piccadilly in March 2016.
