The Parish Church of All Saints:

Sunday 2 November 10.30am Parish Eucharist.The service celebrates All Saints Day - November 1 and All Souls Day - November 2. All Saints is the commonest dedication for Churches in Anglo Saxon times which is when Icklesham first had a church. All Souls day is when one remembers those who have passed away. Sunday 9 November Remembrance Service.

The Panto Auditions: Icklesham Players ‘next production is”Sleeping Beauty” in February 2015. On Sunday 2 November at 3pm in the Memorial Hall there will be auditions. There are the usual big panto parts like the Dame,Sleping Beauty, the Principal boy etc but also lots of small parts for men,ladies and young people. Not a lot of lines to learn so even if you have not done anything like this before,why not go along and give it a try. Parts for children too especially if they like dancing. If you cannot make Sunday call Nicky Harris and she will organise a second audition.

THE bonfire and Firework Display: Wednesday 5 November. The Robin Hood Bonfire Society has its annual big event in the field next to the pub. Gates open at 6.30. The fireworks start at about 7.45 followed by the procession and the lighting of the Bonfire, There will be an outside bar, a BBQ and a Pig Roast. Entrance is only £3 for adults and £2 for children under 12.Health and safety laws (and common sense) do not allow individuals to bring their own fireworks or sparklers. Marshalls have the power to confiscate them.

Queen’s Head Mini Beer Festival: started last night. There are 25 ales from Kent and Sussex and live music daily. Tonight, Friday, Roger Carey & Friends perform from 8.30. On Saturday 1 November Nightshift are the act from 4 till 6 and from 9 till11pm it’s Porchlight Smoker.On Sunday 2 Black Sheep are on from 4 till 6 and from 7 till 9pm it’s Logan.

Coffee Morning Success: Last Saturday’s event in aid of Family Support work saw the Memorial Hall lively and busy . All those who worked so hard were delighted to have raised £377.30/ Congratulations to Frances Read and all her team.

Icklesham Horticultural Society AGM: It was decided to continue having the Summer Show with the Village Fete and also still to have the Wealden Brass Band,However it was decided not to have the coffee morning and plant sale,The officers were re-elected except for Sandra Stunt who has stood down as the Society’s representative on the Icklesham Trust Committee, Sandra was thanked for the 4 years of service in this role, Kevin Wall will replace her. The Society would like to thank all those who helped and gave support in 2014 and is looking forward to seeing you all in 2015.

October Quiz Night: 16 teams entered and an excellent £351.50 was raised for our Church. Dangerous Brian’s took the early lead but were quickly caught by Team Name. Then there was a surge by many teams -30 Somethings,Casualties,Stalybridge Celtic,Golden Arrows,One Out All Out,Empty Heads,Saints & Sinners,Pre-War,Allsorts Table in the Corner and the eventual winners Nobby’s Nuts. They ended just 2 points ahead of Stalybridge Celtic. Organiser Stuart Baker thanks everyone who gave their support especially Janet and Andrew,Hugh,Alan, John and Tina. Little helper Marc did a first class job throughout the evening. The raffle was excellent so thanks to those who donated prizes, those who sold tickets and of course those who bought them.The next Quiz is Saturday 15 November.

New Pavilion Lottery Draw: Canon Hugh Moseley made the October draw. 1st Prize £45 Sue D’Arcy. 2nd Prize £20 David Pritchard. 3rd Prize £15 Lesley Birch. 4th Prize £10 Jeanette Read. 5th Prize £5 Gareth Oliver. New members are always welcome . It’s £1 a month.

Rye Retreat: A £50 voucher to use at this top beauty salon was raffled at the Quiz night. Tracey Young was the winner and £90 was raised for the Pavilion Fund,

Murder Mystery evening: Stuart Baker reports that this idea suggested by Del Smith of Icklesham Players has aroused a lot of interest but he asks if anybody would like to help in the organising. Let him know.

Bowls Club Christmas Party: This is planned for Friday 19 December 7ppm -11pmr. The tickets will be £8 which includes a buffet supper and live music from “Something Else”.
