After a wet and windy start the open garden of Knockbridge House last Saturday and Sunday was a great success with visitors able to enjoy the beauty and imagination which was so apparent. Charles and Jo Sandeman-Allen deserve our praise for this weekend. The catering was done by Icklesham supporters of the New Pavilion Fund and on their behalf Sandra Stunt thanks the hosts.Over £250 was raised. Grateful thanks to all of the following who helped over the two days; - Yvonne Bellhouse,Roma Marchant, Linda Hicks,Anne Grainger,Nick Warren,Sandra Stunt,David Mayne,Pete Stunt and to Deidre Dobinson and Stuart Baker for being on standby.

A delicious selection of cakes was donated by Wendy Mitchell,Yvonne Bellhouse, Roma Marchant, Sandra Stunt, Mags Baker,Karen Pain (Mix n Match cakes),Corinne Merricks,Sharon Sellens and Jo Stewart.

Tomorrow Saturday 17 May an All-Day Market in Icklesham Memorial Hall from 10.30am until 4.30pm. There will be lots of stalls including plants,cakes, bric-a-brac cards ,jewellery, and a “good-as-new” plus a tombola. There are activities for children and of course the play area outside. If you don’t know Icklesham the Hall is on the Rye side of the village next to the Recreation Ground with plenty of free parking, This is a major e vent for the Church and The Church Ladies will be providing refreshments during the day including ploughman’s lunches and cream teas.

Saturday 31 may 7.00pm Manor Farm Oast. A Dual Quiz fund raising for Breast Cancer Care.Syd and Kate Mylrea host this event. The first part is general knowledge with written answers and the second part is a picture quiz. There is an entrance fee of £7.00 per person, but that will get you a buffet and a glass of wine/soft drink. There will also be a payment bar available. there is an individual prize and a team prize. As it will be held at Manor Farm Oast and the weather cannot be guaranteed numbers are limited so book as soon as possible - 01424813787

Monday 7 July A Golfing Challenge for the golfers of Icklesham Casuals Football Club !! 36 holes-in-a day in 9 different counties using only 5 golf clubs to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support and the Icklesham New Pavilion Fund. The counties are Sussex,Surrey, Hampshire,Berkshire,Buckinghamshire,Hertfordshire,Middlesex,Essex and Kent. But why only 5 golf clubs?? There is a lot of driving involved and a lot of golf bags would have taken up too much space! The Casuals are looking for sponsors for every hole played by each individual player at £10 per hole. This means around 500 holes to be sponsored and the potential to raise 5 grand for the two good causes. In addition if the Club can achieve its target it hopes to obtain further matched sponsorship. Wednesday 14 May.Icklesham Parish is in the part of the Diocese of Chichester which is the responsibility of the Suffragan Bishop of Lewes.Richard Jackson was consecrated by the Archbishop of Canterbury. The last Bishop of Lewes was Wallace Benn who retired in 2012 having held the post since 1997. On Sunday 18 May there will be an opportunity to welcome the new Bishop at 6pm in St. Mary’s, Battle.
