Next weekend Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 May Charles and Jo Sandemann-Allen are opening their garden at Knockbridge from 11am till 5pm. This is part of the National Gardens Scheme. There will be teas and light lunches.

Saturday 17 May The Memorial Hall will be the venue for the May Fair which is an all day event organised by the Social Committee of our Parish Church.There will be lots of stalls and refreshments.This is a larger event than the usual Church Market.The April Church Market did very well indeed making £338.

Thursday 22 May 7am - 10pm European Parliament elections. Local Polling Station Icklesham Memorial Hall.

Saturday 31 May 7pm Manor Farm Oast Kate and Syd Mylrea host a Dual Quiz. This is part of their 2014 Fund Raising for Breast Cancer Care. One part of the Quiz is general knowledge with written questions and the other is a picture quiz.It’s £7 per person but this includes a buffet and a glass of wine/soft drink. There will also be a bar. There is a prize for the top quizzer and another for the top team. Weather can’t be guaranteed and numbers have to be limited so get your team together and book a place. On Sunday 6 July there will be a Garden Party at Manor Farm Oast in aid of Breast Cancer Care.

Saturday 7 June Icklesham Toddler Group are hosting a 1980s Disco Night in the Memorial Hall from 7.30 on.Fancy Dress is optional.There is a bar or you can bring your own. There is a raffle and a BBQ by Hungry Hog Roasts. Tickets are £5 Adults and children under 12 £2 available from Icklesham Village Store or text Jane Gillard 07842 654 503 All proceeds will go to the New Pavilion Fund

Saturday 2 August Icklesham’s Annual Fete and Flower Show. Plans are underway. If you have any ideas or would like to get involved the Trust Committee would be delighted to hear from you.

Thursday 24 April - Rye College Sports Family organised the Oliver Curd Trust Key Stage2 Football Festival at Peasmarsh Church of England School grounds. Eight schools took part and Icklesham enjoyed a lot of drama. In the final the score was 0-0 at full time and the winning goal which was a bit lucky was a “golden goal” but it was Beckley who scored it. Icklesham had reached the final by winning a penalty shoot-out. The other schools taking part were Peasmarsh, Rye, St Michael’s Playden, Brede,Guestling Bradshaw and St Thomas Winchelsea.

Saturday 10 May Icklesham Horticultural Society’s Plant Sale and Coffee Morning in the Memorial Hall.

26 April Icklesham Quiz Night. Stuart Baker thanks Sandra, Mags and little helper Marc for all they did and he especially thanks the Robin Hood Bonfire Society for setting up the Hall having had their over 60s party there in the afternoon.

Everybody who has taken part in this season’s quizzes would like to thank Stuart for all his hard work in this very popular village event. The evening raised £338.50 which will be shared between the New Pavilion Fund and the Cricket Club. 14 teams entered, The winners were “Empty Heads” closely followed by Casualties Reserves,30 Somethings, One Out All Out. TWDRTA, Staybridge Celtic,Nobby’s Nuts and Fab 6. This was the last quiz of the season and over the winter £2870.50 has been raised - a tremendous effort. If any quizzer has ideas about new question rounds or the return of picture rounds please let Stuart know.The money was distributed as follows; Icklesham Trust Committee £315.50; Icklesham Parish Church £314; MacMillan Nurses;Icklesham Horticultural Society £200; Icklesham Cricket Club £150 and New Pavilion Project £1637.

Wednesday 14 May The Patient Participation Groups of Ferry Road Surgery and the Rye Medical Centre are hosting a meeting about Urology at the Rye Community School starting at 6.30 pm. The guest is Mr Roger Plail, Consultant Urologist, whose theme is Robots,Lasers and Iceballs - the changing face of urological surgery” Everybody is welcome and refreshments will be available.

June 30. The new recycling system starts. Garden waste will only be collected in the new brown wheelie bins. There is a charge of £25 a year for this (less than a second class stamp a week)Contact Rother if you want to register. Black wheelie bins will still be used for household rubbish and the Rother pamphlet says black sacks can also be used. The new use of the green wheelies will be for recycling tins,cans,paper,tetra-pak cartons,plastic bottles and cardboard. For the first time glass bottles and jars will be collected using the boxes.
