Tomorrow Saturday 7 the September Craft Fair is in the Memorial Hall from 10am to 3pm.A range of craft stalls including some new ones give you an opportunity to buy holiday,birthday and Christmas gifts There are refreshments and all the takings will be donated to Macmillan nurses. So if you have any cakes or produce just bring them along and they will help this so worthwhile charity. Free parking and the children’s play area is next to the Hall.

Wednesday 11 September 6.30 Rye Community Primary School the local Patient Participation Groups present “Changes to our local Health Services” a chance to find out how recent changes to the NHS and the Rye, Winchelsea & District Memorial Hospital affect you. All welcome, Refreshments, Parking via School entrance in Love Lane.

Saturday 14 September the big sponsored Historic Churches Cycle Ride in Sussex and Kent with Hugh And Annabelle representing Icklesham. If you would like to sponsor them please sign the form at the back of the Church.

Saturday 21 September -Autumn is change over time, The last Church Market is from 11am to 2pm with cake,plant and produce stalls and coffees,teas and light lunches. In the evening at 7.30 in the Memorial is the first Quiz Night of the season.. Entry is £2.50 per person with teams of up to 6.The proceeds will be donated to Hall funds

The sunny weather has helped some butterflies locally. The Small Tortoisehell, a bright orange insect with light blue edges to its wings, has been in major decline for several years. However this year using completely unscientific personal observations it has been abundant unlike the other brightly coloured species - Peacocks,Red Admirals and Painted Ladies - whose numbers seem to be down.

At the end of this month it’s Harvest Festival with three planned events and an unexpected guest.

Saturday 28 September. The Harvest Barn Dance, featuring the famous Catsfield Steamers, at Pett Village Hall, Bring your own food and drink. Arrive at 7.15 for a 7.30 start, until 11pm. Book with Christine 01424 813740 or Janet 01424 814735. Price £8 in advance or £10 on the door, with under 16s £6. The Steamers have their caller so if you have never barn danced before you be shown how it’s done. Great fun,. All proceeds to Church funds.

Sunday 29 September 10.30 Harvest Thanksgiving - a Service to thank God for “ Creation, Preservation and all the Blessings of this Life”. A Songs of Praise service with hymns chosen by members of the congregation.

6pm St Mary’s Rye. A Confirmation Service with Bishop Martin Warner, Bishop of Chichester, presiding.

Monday 30 September. The Bishop will be in Icklesham and spend time with our curate Canon Hugh Moseley and the Churchwardens Christine Wheeler and Janet Pegg. He will complete his afternoon by attending

Evening Prayer at All Saints (5pm), The Bishop is familiarising himself with his diocese - all of East and West Sussex.

Friday 4 October 7 for 7.30pm Icklesham Harvest Supper. A full meal with drinks in a very friendly atmosphere - just £6.50 per person. It’s a popular event so book early from Janet Pegg 01424 814735.

Icklesham Players have a double bill of two one act comedies in the Memorial Hall at 7.30 on Thursday 26, Friday 27 and Saturday 28 September.”Café Society” has three old ladies played by Josie Body, Janet Kates and Nicky Harris, who meet regularly and it is both funny and poignant. “Last Tango in Little Grimly” is set in a village hall where the local am dram group is trying to boost audiences by making its plays sexier.
