Saturday 17 August in All Saints it’s the monthly Church Market 11 -2. Cakes,plants,produce etc plus teas,coffees and light lunches. Everybody is welcome. If you are on holiday why not drop in? Enjoy the atmosphere, perhaps buy something to take home and relax in the simple beauty of our Norman Church.

Saturday 17 August in Delightful theatre at the side of Ellen Terry’s house at Small Hythe Ann Rachlin, the acknowledged expert on Ellen Terry and her daughter Edith Graig, will be showing how the two were early stars in silent films. The start time is 5.30 and the tickets £7.50. Check with the National Trust 01580 762334.

The July Draw of the new Pavilion Lottery took place at the Fete. Winners Steve Beale £30, Ken Tytherleigh £15, Sean Baker £10, Stuart Baker £5 and Iain McLean £5. If you would like a flutter and at the same time support the latest Icklesham project application details are in the Parish Magazine.

Ann Osborne, the energetic secretary of the Icklesham Horticultural Society, thanks everyone who contributed to the great success of the Summer Show especially Michael,Stuart and Eric who got the Hall ready,the Tombola Team Simon,Sarah,Judy,Helen and Ann, the marvellous man with the mike Kevin and Jane Ahmad who continued her family tradition by presenting the prizes,the judges , the tombola prize donators and a everybody who helped tidy up. The prize winners were - Richard Sutar; the Ron Myles Trophy for vegetables and fruit plus the Cyril Myles trophy for best exhibit in fruit and vegetables. He won classes in French Beans,Onions,Runner Beans, Beetroot, Cougettes, Potatoes, and Plate of fruit. He won the Robin Hood Cup for the best exhibit in the Show. Jean Ellner won both the sweet pea cups. The John Comport was for most points. She won 3 classes, and the Jimmy Young cup for best exhibit. Judy Foster won the piece of Crystal kindly donated by Kate and Syd Mylrea for the best loaf. She also won the Hayman cup for most points in the Rose section and the Roy and Gladys Masters cup for best rose, Judy also won the class for a pot plant in bloom. Syd Mylrea was awarded the Fred Stunt Memorial Trophy for best fuchsia. and Simon Osborne the Dahlia cup for most points in that section. Kate Mylrea won a certificate for best in Floral Art with arrangements in an egg cup and a wine glass. Pam Lee received 2 trophies . Floral Art with a display of summer flowers, an arrangement in a kitchen utensil, a vase of mixed foliage and a rose cluster. Her certificate was for best in the cookery section where both her lemon curd and stone fruit jam were winners. Stuart Baker won 4 classes - annual flower, vase with 3 different kinds of flowers, pansies and pickling shallots. Other winners were; James Cruttenden (Cucumber),Olive Young(Tomatoes), Marie Hayter(Carrots),Pete Stunt(exhibition Shallots),Ainain Ahmad (Vase of Herbs),Maureen Glover(mixed perennials and a Quiche),Sarah Hudson(pot plant cactus),Cathy Wall(fruit scones),Christine Knight(2 Meringues).Wendy Hysted (Chocolate Sponge)Mags Baker(Lemon Drizzle Cake),Tina Cranage (Soft Fruit Jam0 and Frances Read(Marmalade).
