Sunday 11 November Remembrance Sunday 10.30. All Saints Parish Church will have the traditional Service with well known hymns, prayers for the fallen, the wreath laying and the two minutes silence.

The Poppy Day Appeal has involved house-to-house collections and donation boxes sited in the Village Stores, The Robin Hood, the Farm Shop and the Queen’s Head.

Attention Young People 11-16. Do you want something for you in Icklesham?

Adults – would you like to run something for the young in this village?

If the answer is ‘’Yes’’ there is a meeting tonight Friday 9 November at 7pm in Winchelsea Beach Community Hall when ideas will be discussed for all four parts of the Parish Council area. The Council, Youth in Motion and the Neighbourhood Enablers are the hosts. A bus has been arranged to take you picking up at Gouldhurst Green at 6.35 and the Recreation Ground at 6.40. The bus will bring you back when the meeting is over, Pizza and refreshments are provided.

Tomorrow Saturday 10 at 8pm in the Memorial Hall No Exit ,the local live band, will be playing a fabulous mix of popular cover versions. There is a licensed bar and a raffle. All proceeds go to the Icklesham Casuals F,C, 75th Anniversary Charity Fund Raising. Tickets £5.

Sunday 11 4-6 Live Music at the Queen’s Head . Bagge & Armer play Chill Out Blues.

November 5 The Robin Hood Bonfire Society had to postpone the Bonfire and Fireworks because the ground was far too wet. The last time there was a postponement it was because of dangerously too strong winds and the rearranged event took place between Christmas and New Year.

The Recreation Ground gates have tended to be locked recently. This is because it has been suggested that unwanted Travellers may use the site. Be vigilant and report anything that you feel is suspicious.

Saturday 17 November 10.30 The Ridge Fire Station is under threat, and a Public Meeting has been organised in the Memorial Hall following requests from concerned Icklesham residents.

There is a proposal to downgrade the Ridge from a whole-time status( full time firemen) to retained status (part time volunteers).

The Meeting will be attended by leaders of the Campaign to save The Ridge Fire Station and the local Fire Brigade Union, who will explain the proposal, what the effects will be for villages like Icklesham and how local people can express their opinions to the East Sussex Fire Authority before consultation ends on Thursday 13 December.

The Antiques Afternoon planned for 17 October was unfortunately cancelled as one of the speakers was unwell.

Icklesham Cricket Club at its AGM reported the difficulty of putting out teams and is cooperating with Barbarians a Hastings club with similar problems. This will mean the opportunity to play Saturday as well as the Sunday fixtures. Over past years Icklesham has only played on Sundays. The Parish Church Christmas Fayre will be held in the Memorial Hall 10am – 1pm with Father Christmas in his Grotto.There will be a planning meeting in the Church after the service on Sunday 18 November. Everyone is welcome especially with new ideas. Interested? Contact Janet Pegg 01424 814735.

The Skateboarding ramp was a feature of the summer. Its use and whether there is any need to accommodate this either on a temporary or permanent basis is still being evaluated.

An idea being discussed is for a multi-use games area (MUGA).This would be a hard surfaced area that could be used for a range of sporting activities throughout the year. It would have to sited so as not o interfere with other sports –soccer,cricket and stoolball. What do you think? Please let your Parish Councillor know.

Has the bus service to Rye been of value. On 12 November the Council will evaluate it to decide if it provides value for money.

Rother District Council wishes to devolve some services to Parish Councils. In Icklesham’s case this would be the car park at Rye Harbour and the public toilets at Rye Harbour, Winchelsea and Winchelsea Beach.

Some time ago the bench in memory of Marjorie Drew went missing presumed stolen from the Recreation Ground. It has reappeared fully restored and in excellent condition. The council would like to thank somebody but who.
