Tonight (Friday) Icklesham Art Group invite everybody to a Social Evening and Exhibition in the Memorial Hall 6 – 9.

Come along,meet the artists and chat about what they do.You can also enjoy an Artist,s Supper of wine,cheese and other refreshments for £3 if you wish.

A Busy Weekend.

On Saturday Icklesham has a big fundraising day for St.Michael’s Hospice as a tribute to Joan Baker. Starting at 10am there is a sponsored run or walk for youngsters who can go around the Recreation Ground up to 5 times. As soon as that is over the Baker family have Joan’s Jumble sale in the Memorial Hall from about 11am to 2.30. Lots of Derrick’s famous cakes to eat or buy, a tombola and a raffle.

Saturday evening there is the first Quiz Night of the season with teams of up to 6. Entry £2.50 per person, Bring your own food and drink.

The Queen’s Head Mini Beer Festival started yesterday. There are over 25 Real Ales available.Music this evening is by Big Blue.Tomorrow Saturday Porchlight Smoker perform 4-6 and Hot Club of St Leonards in the evening.On Sunday, the last day of the Festival, music is provided by Local Heroes at the usual 4-6 time.

Next Monday 24 at 3.00pm as part of the Rye Arts Festival Ann Rachlin will be presenting ‘’Edie was a Lady’’ in the Methodist Church. With Ann’s superb audio-visual techniques and the fascinating research into the life of Edith Craig, the illegitimate,lesbian,suffragette daughter of Ellen Terry this will be an absorbing afternoon. Tickets are £10 from the Box Office, Philips& Stubbs, Cinque Ports Street, Rye.

The skateboard ramp on the Recreation Ground has been removed. It had been hired to see how popular it would be throughout the summer.Icklesham Parish Council meet on Monday 8 October at 7.15 in Rye Harbour Village Hall when the facilities for young people in Icklesham village will be discussed. On Friday 28 September Harvest Supper will be held in the Memorial Hall at 7pm.Tickets for this lovely supper with wine are only £7 and are available from Janet Pegg 01424 814735.

Everybody is welcome at this friendly annual village event.

A week tomorrow Saturday 29 the Parish Church is decorated for Harvest Festival.If you would like to be involved it starts at 9.30.If you want to make an arrangement there are plenty of spaces to fill. Contact Janet Pegg if you want to know more.

Sunday 23 September 10.30 Morning Prayer in the Parish Church. The last Church Market of the year raised £302. In 2012 a total of £2155 was made by these popular events. This is a great credit to the many people who have worked so hard throughout the summer.

Sandra Stunt reports that the September Craft Fair raised £93 for Memorial Hal and Pavilion funds. The Hall was as usual full of varied and interesting items. Each month something different is introduced and Icklesham is lucky to so much local talent.Sandra gives a big thank you to Pat,Mary and Sara for their help with the refreshments.
