The Iden and Playden Garden Society will be holding its Autumn Show on Saturday 28 September at 2.30pm in the Village Hall, to be followed by its Annual General Meeting. Refreshments will be served and all are invited to attend- this is always a wonderful show and new members are always welcome- just £5 for the full year! The chairman is very keen to encourage children to take part in the making of Vegetable Animals.

The Harvest Festival Service will be held in Iden Church on Sunday 29 September at 9.30am. This will be a family service. The congregation is asked to bring gifts in the form of tins or packets and not fresh vegetables or fruit as the donations will be going to Charities in Hastings and Rye who are helping social deprivation

Rod Stuart has told me that the 2014 Iden Calendar is now on sale in Iden Stores. This year he has included almost all of the population of Iden in the monthly images.

The star performer is our very own vicar - Playden too of course - Teresa Munro. She appears as the December Star, a flying vicar skating madly alongside other Iden residents as they attempt to give us an up-to-date version of an old Dutch Master painting of Holland in the 17th century.

The profits will go to Iden Stores. So please purchase a copy, it is bound to become collectible in the future.

Would Iden residents please read the information about the WEA courses in the Playden column. There is plenty to interest you, but it is too much to write out all over again.

Would you like to become involved in a very worthwhile and exciting project? -Iden has had an amazing history, particularly during the past 50 years or so and it is important residents’ memories of significant events and the way of life during this time are recorded. With this in mind it is hoped that with your help, your recollections can be recorded and published so that they are not lost for ever.

Therefore, it is proposed to hold an afternoon meeting on Thursday 31st October in the Village Hall at 2.30pm. Over refreshments share your memories. Please bring photographs and other memorabilia you may have- there are of course quite a few residents whose memories will go back for more than 50 years and of course their reminiscences will be especially welcome

It is hoped that Peter Spencer, who many of you will know, will also be present to talk about his time in the village working at Oxenbridge

Please telephone Heather on 280110 for further details
