Unsuprisingly, the Summer Show, normally heaving with garden produce, Sweet peas and roses was a much quieter affair last Saturday. Again the lateness of the season hit the produce classes into the long grass. The best thatmMembers could harvest were six entries of mixed herbs and a single plate of gooseberries. Only one entrant found sufficient Sweet Peas to display. Fortunately the Roses and other flowers had opened their buds in time to bring the show to life.

It was gratifying that more visitors came and were enthralled by the displays and floral art arrangements. All enjoyed the cream teas so generously provided and served by Mrs Carol Worwood who also donated her domestic class entries for auction to the benefit of society funds.

The prizewinners were:

Peggy Spence Bowl (most points for Rose Classes) Mrs C Worwood

Ivy Say Trophy(most points Sweet Pea Classes) Mrs P Evans

Fullerton Bowl( best Floral Art) Mrs Janet Johnson

Ramus Challenge Cup(most points in show) Mrs C Worwood

Garden Trophy( best exhibit in Vegetable Classes) Mrs J Robinson
