Iden and Playden Garden Society Spring Flower & Produce Show

Iden & Playden Garden Society Members rose to the challenge of finding plants in their gardens suitable to be displayed at the Sprng Flower Show, despite the coldest weather in March for many decades. Whilst other garden groups were forced to abandon their plans for last Saturday due to lack of entries, IPGS was able to put on a fine display, although the number of members taking part was down on previous years. The main classes featuring daffodils were supported with fine displays of flowers. As now anticipated, the Floral Art Classes were of a very high standard drawing admiration from the visiting public .

Mrs Carol Worwood not only provided very welcome Cream Teas but donated her Simnel Cake and Easter Biscuits, from the Domestic competition, for auction after the Prize-giving.

The Trophies were awarded:-

The Rendle Cup ( for Best in Show) Mrs Trish Evans for a vase of Mixed Daffodils.

The Jill Brodrick Memorial Cup ( for most points in Daffodil Section) - Mrs Trish Evans

The Rye Bowl ( for most points in Floral Art Section)- Mrs Janet Johnson

The Butterfield Cup ( for most points in Domestic Section) - Mrs Carol Worwood

The Major WagerCup ( overall most points in Show) - Mrs Carol Worwood.

The Iden Player’s Pantomime, Robin Hood, is nearly upon us. It will be presented on Saturday 20th April, with 2 performances. Tickets are at Iden Stores, and are selling well. Hurry along to get yours.

Iden Parish Council has the next meeting on Tuesday 2nd April at - NB - 7 pm to allow the local Police to answer any questions and to update residents.

The remaining Easter services are as follows:

Good Friday - 29th - 12 to 1 pm. Stations of the Cross. Iden

2 to 3 pm. The Last Hour of the Cross. Playden

Easter Eve - 30th 8 pm. Blessing of the First Light. Iden

Easter Day - 9.30 am. Family Communion. Iden.

Please remember that the clocks spring FORWARD on Saturday evening, or else you will be late for the major Festival of Easter service.
