Iden village voice

The good weather held for the Iden Exhibition and Spring Gardens walk around the village. It was most pleasant in the sunshine and there certainly were lots and lots of lovely flowers to be seen....daffodils, tulips, hellebores, anemones, cowslips, clematis, camellias, and, surprisingly, pansies.

The Old Hall once again proved its usefulness by staging the Art Exhibition and providing teas.

Unfortunately the Iden Singers Concert of Words and Music had to be postponed,.....I understand a sickness among the sopranos didn’t help. But a new date has been set for 4th May, when we hope everyone will be well again.

Iden W. I. has its next meeting on Tuesday 10th April in the village hall at 7.30 pm, when Glenn Wassall will be talking about his life as a Photographic Agent.

The Iden and Playden Garden Society will stage the Spring Flower and Produce Show on Saturday 14th April at 2.30 pm. This is always a delightful event. There will be teas, a plant stall and a raffle.

The Friends of Iden Church will hold their Annual General meeting on Thursday 19th April in the Old Hall at 3 pm. Refreshments will be available.

The Iden Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) will be on Thursday 19th April at 7 pm in the Old Hall. New members of the PCC are needed.

Iden Parish Council wishes to encourage everyone to come to a meeting on Saturday 21st April from 10 am to 12 noon in the village hall, to have their say on what is needed in the village to improve facilities for everyone living in the village. Tea, coffee and chat available.

The services for today, Good Friday, are 12 til 1 pm in Iden Church, a Vigil, At the Foot of the Cross. The Last Hour from 2 to 3 pm is at Playden.

There will be a service of Compline and the Lighting of the Easter Candle and Renewal of Baptismal Vows at 8 pm at Playden on Saturday, Easter Eve.

The Easter Day service will be at 9.30 am led by the Vicar.
