Improvement director leaves Eastbourne DGH

An improvement director at East Sussex Healthcare Trust has left the trust after less than six months.

Maggie Oldham, was appointed by the Trust Development Authority (TDA) improve East Sussex Healthcare Trust, which runs Conquest Hospital in Hastings and Eastbourne DGH, after it was rated ‘inadequate’ by the CQC.

The trust was also placed in special measures.

Mrs Oldham, worked at Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust and supported it as chief executive while it went into administration.

A spokesperson for the NHS Trust Development Authority said: “Maggie’s experience and knowledge was hugely valuable to East Sussex Healthcare and needed quickly at the end of last year after the Trust was placed into special measures.

“This was always going to be a temporary appointment and we are grateful to Maggie for stepping in at a challenging time at short notice.

“Dr Sally Herne has been appointed as the new improvement director from the beginning of January 2016 and using her significant experience is already building on Maggie’s excellent work to support the trust to improve care for patients.”
