Improvements to drainage in Aldingbourne

Drainage improvements in Church Road, Aldingbourne, started yesterday (Monday, November 2)

The 102,300 West Sussex County Council scheme involves removing pipes which are restricting the water flow in the open ditches, to prevent flooding.

Derek Whittington, county council cabinet member for strategic planning and transport, and local member for Aldingbourne, said: "As we approach winter, flooding is a major worry for people.

"The scheme is scheduled to take up to 13 weeks to complete, weather permitting. The first three weeks will involve work being carried out by Open Reach BT.

"Work will be suspended for two weeks over the Christmas period."

Church Road will be closed for the duration of the scheme. A signed diversion route will be via the B2233 Nyton Road and Oving Road. Residential access will still be maintained.

Work will be carried out from Monday to Friday between 7.30am and 5pm, and occasionally on Saturdays from 7.30am to 1pm.
