ORGANISERS have hailed an annual five-kilometre race as a ‘huge success’ after more than 150 people turned out.

Paul Mitchinson triumphed in the Fishbourne Flat Five on Sunday morning, coming just ahead of Mike Houston and Hamish Roper with a time of 31.04 minutes.

Nicky Hill was the fastest woman. The Chichester Runners athlete completed the course in 39.43 minutes, followed by Persephone Hagan and Sarah Haig.

The race is held in memory of Beckie and Lucy Hassell who died in a car accident in October, 2005.

Fundraisers this year were raising money for Fishbourne Pre-School, which is raising funds for a children’s working kitchen to go in the new planned pre-school extension. The recent wet weather meant the route was muddy in places and no records were broken this year.
