Kim Style, who led the team of choreographers, said: “It was a challenging experience, but the boys were very hardworking and keen. We are all glad we can help raise money for breast cancer awareness and it was a pleasure to be given this opportunity.”

Peer Educators Olly Francis, Yanyan Leow and Katy Hyde explained the importance of breast cancer awareness in a presentation to all 500 sixth form college students.

Olly said: “It’s been good to tell people about the seriousness of this disease, when you read the numbers its very shocking, so it’s important to raise money for such a good cause.”

Year-13 student Hester Toovey had her 45cm plaits cut off in aid of the Little Princess Trust, which makes real hair wigs for children undergoing chemotherapy.

Having been planning it for the last year, she had already raised £750.

Hester said: “Cancer has affected my family directly, so I wanted to do something to help. Everyone has just been so generous and supportive, and I am sure the charity will be just as grateful as I am. Having a wig made from my hair is a special honour.”

In November, the sixth form college, in conjunction with the Rotary Interact Club, will be supporting Movember by growing a moustache to raise awareness of male cancers.
