Battle leads on the scene of devastation which met parishioners in Sedlescombe following Storm Angus, after a tree crashed into the village’s historic church.

Meanwhile it is the end of an era in Rye as the Rye Lions announced the group was to wind up after 40 years of helping good causes in the area.

Northiam Parish Council has revealed its ambitions to obtain the land vacated by the Blue Cross Rehoming Centre to create a ‘multi-purpose hub’ for villagers. This could include affordable homes for villagers, workshops for local craftsmen or a woodland burial ground.

Battle Town Council has agreed to take over responsibility for the town’s Christmas lights in 2017, with full details about this year’s Christmas lights switch-on featured in this week’s Battle Observer.

And Rye’s Christmas Festival is making waves, with a top website naming it as one of the top must-visit events in December.

And as Christmas approaches, the bonfire season is drawing to a close, with a double page of pictures taken at this year’s Robertsbridge Bonfire.
