There is one story dominating the news in Battle this week, and that is the tragic death of mum-of-three Debbie Masters, who died after she was struck by a car while walking with her family through the town centre.

Battle MP Huw Merriman, who was on lock-down in the House of Commons for more than five hours during Wednesday’s terror attack in Westminster, speaks out about his experience.

The team at the Rother Valley Railway have spoken of their joy after Rother District Council gave them the go ahead to restore a two mile section of track over the A21.

Also this week, the council has announced plans to end its ten year waste collection contract with Kier four years early, blaming a fall in the market for recycling materials.

This week’s paper also carries a two-page feature on the work of the SERV blood runners, a group of volunteers who transport emergency blood products to hospitals across East and West Sussex.
