In today’s County Times, a proposal to remove Shelley Fountain from Horsham town centre has been tabled, a former paramedic has spoken of his sadness after Horsham’s ambulance crew moved to a new base in Crawley, and local schools will not be given any extra money to help them make ends meet.

A disqualified driver sped at 90mph in front of a police car, a revamped playing field in a village has been officially unveiled, and one road has been so decimated by potholes that it will need to be closed for repair work.

Meanwhile, an inquest heard that an elderly couple ‘planned’ their deaths after a ‘very happy life’, concerns have been raised after part of a playground was ‘deliberately’ set alight, and the candidates for the role of Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner are profiled.

In the South Downs edition, county councillors endorsed a plan which would see Rydon Community College close, a sex offender has been jailed for four and a half years, and a cow needed to be rescued after getting stuck in a ‘freak accident’ at a farm.
