Indecent assault near station

A TEENAGER was indecently assaulted while walking near Worthing Train Station on Monday.

The 17-year-old victim bit the attacker on his right shoulder and he ran off towards the train station.

She had been walking on the north side of the station towards Bridge Road at about 6.15pm.

As she neared Caxton Court, Broadwater Road, she was approached from behind and indecently assaulted.

The man was descirbed as white, about 6ft tall, with dark, receding hair. He wore a dark fleece jacket with a zip, black jeans, dark footwear and a collarless shirt under his fleece. He may now have an injury to his shoulder.

DC Dave Dowell, investigating the assault, said: "This was a very frightening attack but the young lady managed to fight off the offender by biting him.

"We are extremely keen to identify this man and I would appeal to any witnesses to contact Sussex Police."
